Why Bring Personal Development to Your Civic Organization?

Personal development is something that is needed by people of all walks of life and by both Christian and non-Christian alike. We all need to grow on a personal level daily. We need to grow in order to first just maintain where we are today. We are in a time of rapid change, and as our world continuously changes it has become more and more competitive by the day. We have to grow continuously, grow just to stay even.

We were designed with more in mind than just staying even. Staying even won’t get our kids through school and into college. It’s time to move beyond just O.K. and move into greatness-- not because the world is obsessed with things and we are following, but because we are capable, and are blessed with many more opportunities than we will ever know about. Too many people are selling themselves short and not realizing potential that has been given to them from our creator.

We all were put here for a reason; we all have something of significance and greatness to offer our families, our careers, our communities and our churches. Personal growth and becoming motivated to make a contribution is just like bathing and eating, it must happen continuously and daily. For a lot of us, we have never been exposed to many of the simple and commonsense techniques that people use to move their lives from where they are to where they are destined to be.

No matter how destined a person is they will have to learn new ways to manage their resources like time, energy, and emotions. Our lives are very complicated and beyond the spiritual part of our lives there is not a manual to teach us how to reach our dreams and purpose. No matter how strong our spiritual life is there will always be the time and space for us to do our part, some of us have stopped believing in the possibility that is ours if we would just move forward.
We all have some big jobs to do ahead of us, we have an obligation to grow and contribute, each of us has people that need us or depend on us for something. The more that we become, the more we can do for others, and the more we do for others the more our lives become the reality that God has for us. It is said that only 3% of the population sets written and specific goals, but yet 95% of our population at the time of retirement are broke. (If you don’t have a script for yourself, you will be on somebody else’s script.) The simple process of writing your goals down helps people stay on track.

In some communities we’ve got more going into the justice system than going into the college education system. We need people to begin the conversation of how we develop ourselves to become successful and prosperous, and yet stay humble. We need to get into the conversation with ourselves about “what is my purpose”! We are going to leave some kind of mark on this world anyway, it might as well be one that counts and makes a positive difference on all the lives we come in contact with.

I've studied personal development from interviews of highly successful people and people that just couldn’t seem to put it together. There are differences between the two, but not as big as people would think. Strive for something bigger than success-- gain fulfillment. It is true success. Fulfillment is being happy doing a job you love and having rich and rewarding relationships. It means living a life on purpose and making a difference in the world. It means that you are Reaching you Peak.
